Sage Movie Discussion Sunday: The Red Pill Limits
This Deal will Break Everybody Before It's Over
I had a cup of coffee in the film business.
Not a Player.
As an assistant to the assistants to The Players. Technically I was an assistant to Psychotic Player #2, who was still kind of cool and I actually have some sympathy for, unlike Very Infamous Psychotic Player #1 who was not a redeemable human being in any shape or form. In reality most of my time was spent with the other two assistants above me, both of whom are now suits in the film business. At the time they were just ulcer ridden 20-somethings paying their dues and hanging on for dear life.
My duties revolved around fetching the $100K car from the garage uptown and driving it back downtown to the offices during the traffic crush of Thanksgiving Weekend. (Stressful!)
And fetching coffees and burritos and fetching eyeglass repair kits for Psychotic Player #2 when he would break his glasses by throwing them across the room.
Occasionally, I would cover some scripts, but the scripts usually sucked so bad that I began to realize just how difficult it must be to actually conjure up ideas and images and relay this on a written page.
Fun times!
One of my more fond memories was marching into the office upon Blank Films opening a bullshit movie to respectable returns, and trust me, this flick was a pile of crap and we knew it…and snarking, “Well, looks like we duped the American public again!”
😅
I enjoyed passive aggressively saying the quiet part out loud “*Galoshes” style very much then, just as I often enjoy it here for you now, my pretties, and it kind of went over well, surprisingly.
*We do shibboleths here sometimes.
One of my favorite movies is The Player, starring Tim Robbins, currently being rehabbed for being a Vaccinazi.
