Most people are trying to better their circumstances and their instincts first.
We live in a captured world. That is how we got here. The world and all of its nodes of control and information are captured from the top down.
Those at the top are very clever. They do understand far better than most average people the psychology and sociology needed to incentivize behavior. They do own and control the nodes of power and industry. When these two forces merge, and they have...you lose checks and balances.
Now in order to survive, one must necessarily compromise.
Where one draws the line in their own sand of compromise is the metric that I think you are looking for. And when the system is stronger than the individual, and the individuals are divided sufficiently, human beings appear to go along. History is replete with humans going along with all manner of darkness.

I find more explanatory value in looking at the social systems and incentive structures than at the individual merits of each person.

As for me, I write a small Substack and try to solve what is going on.
I try to speak as honestly about what I see and am often wrong. When I started writing with zero zip nada followers, I just promised to let it rip.
I don't really consider this an advocacy site or a rah-rah site, just a place to think and discuss.

I an asshole because I went to the CDC website and dug deep to find the actual data showing how much each state was paid for a positive Covid case. Not treatment, just the diagnosis. The few remaining friends I had are now gone after this revelation and I am assuming it is because they all got tested and thought they were the good guys because they didn't get vaxxed.
